Geographic Location
Uruguay is located in a strategic area within Mercosur – between Brazil and Argentina – and in the center of the Santiago de Chile – Belo Horizonte economic corridor, which concentrates more than 80% of the region’s GDP.
This area includes the largest cities of Mercosur and Chile, including: Santiago, Mendoza, Cordoba, Rosario, Buenos Aires, Asuncion, Montevideo, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte.
Throughout its history, Uruguay has enjoyed a privileged position in regional trade, despite its small size (176,000 km2).
Uruguay’s advantageous location and geography have made it the natural gateway to South America.
